I finished my project over the weekend and took a whole day on it. I'm a perfectionist so certain little things bugged me when I drew them. I learned something about lead that I didn't know before, though. I learned that it looks way better to smudge with a paper towel, tissue or stump and changing the pressure of your pencil makes a big difference on the outcome of the piece. I also gained some more skill with colored pencil. I'm not very good with colored pencil, but because I have prismacolors and changed the pressure of the pencil sometimes, it turned out pretty good. I had a few issues that I didn't expect to happen while in the process of making this piece. One of my siblings had the smart idea to eat pancakes with syrup while I was drawing right next to him and he dropped one of his pancake pieces caked with syrup right on the bottom of my drawing. I simply ran for a wipe and wiped it off. There's still a stain but it's less noticable than it was before. I also couldn't draw words on the boxes very well so I always had to put a line where the top of my words were and a line where the bottom of my words were so I didn't make some of the letters bigger or smaller than the others. I originally wasn't going to put a cereal box into my piece but I made one of the boxes too small so I said might-as-well!! At the end of my project, I stood back, and analyzed what I had just done. Of course there were a few spots where I knew I could have done better, but that's as good as I could make it in the time I had. I kind of had a jam packed weekend and worked on it whenever I had a space in my clock. I only had the time at the end to really look at my piece and when I did I decided I did a pretty good job. I didn't consider any ideas during my piece and just kept on trucking. This is how it turned out!
This is my original plan of my project. I wrote down all the types of boxes I could make and drew out exactly what I wanted to have in my city. My final project didn't turn out the way I planned it, but I still believe it looks really good. I still have the clouds, the room in the middle and the two streets.
These are my sketches/plans and references for my first project. The project is to make some sort of city in perspective. I had lots of ideas and couldn't decide on which idea to go on. I started narrowing down my decisions by picking out the ones that will take the least time but most originality. Some of my ideas was to make a city in one point perspective of nature and a city in two point perspective of cheese. I decided to go with a two street city in one point perspective of different kinds of boxes (Shoe box, bird house, match box, lunch box, juice box, etc.).
