I learned, from this project, how to work with Prismacolors and how to blend and make highlights and shades. It's way easier to do that with these types of colored pencils. The lead is softer so I'm guessing that's what makes it easier to mix. I definitely got something out of this project. I made this wing for my Grandmother because her mother-in-law died a few months ago and she told me that my artwork reminds me of her (she was an amazing artist). I also made it because she loves butterflies and she showed me a close up picture she took of a butterfly and I wanted to recreate it. The only problem I have with my work is the fact that you can see the pencil strokes I took when making the orange spots. That part really bothers me, but it's the only issue so I think it's ok. I didn't expect the wing to come out as color - varied as it did and I'm really proud of it, but I'm not sure how I did it. I just kept on putting layers of different browns, oranges, and yellows and it just made itself. I also didn't expect the wood to come out as cool as it did. I looked up how bench wood looks and kept drawing lines and circles and swirling them together. I'm pretty proud of my work.
